Hello everyone! I am Mackailyn Arnason and I am a personal trainer at Motive 8 Fitness. As a trainer I sincerely hope to be able to provide the information, techniques and motivation to have clients on the best path to fitness and health success!
I have looked deep into what it is that makes me happy, and as is turns out I really enjoy making a positive impact on people’s lives. When the founder of Motive 8 Fitness, or my Uncle Kevin Arnason, started pondering how he would like to expand to Kelowna from Toronto, Ontario, I inquired about a position. Learning what the duties and responsibilities of a personal trainer was there was no doubt, I would be able to deliver an amazing, positive and life-changing experience to anyone who had the determination to better their health and fitness, or impact their own family on healthy choices.
Growing up, I was very fortunate to have experienced healthy lifestyle choices when I was young. Many times throughout school, up until the 5th Grade, teachers could have sworn I had ADHD, despite the psychologists insisting I was simply bored. My mother took it upon herself to eliminate processed simple sugars out of my diet and provide me with foods that would enhance the nutrition to my brain. In the middle of Grade 4, or half way through my mother implementing the dietary changes, my 3rd and final report card completely changed around from Satisfactory or Needs Improvement classroom behaviour to complete G’s, or Good behaviour, as well as a flood of A’s over C+’s.
Due to my active nature it was imperative I was placed in sports and had a variety of activities to challenge myself with. Extremely skilled at soccer, I competed in a high level with Kelowna United as well as my high school AAA sports team. In order to keep my ball handling skills on par with the rest of the teammates, as I was a goal keeper and training was focused on stopping the ball, I took it upon myself to train in my backyard or nearby fields on my abilities to maneuver the ball. Now in my Adult leagues, there are people whom I have never officially met who recognize me based on being the only female keeper in my CNC Co-Ed Indoor league or the keeper who poses a challenge to score on.
For any potential client in Kelowna, I intend to take my experiences from sports, continuous education, CanFitPro certification and ongoing support from associates in Motive 8 Fitness, and incorporate everything to provide whatever it is they are specifically seeking whether it be nutrition counselling, weight-loss, or building muscle. In November I am attending the Canfitpro Vancouver fitness conference which provides information and education by the top professionals of the world in specific areas of health and fitness.
Thank you all for reading! There will be more articles to come. I look forward to meeting whomever wants to be educated on a healthier lifestyle or motivated to become more active and provide a positive impact on their family’s lives.
